Rail yard Communities Meeting

If you've been paying attention in our local Bethel area, the City had been planning to approve the building of a Biofuel Transfer Facility on Railroad property. Because of the actions of organizations like Active Bethel Community, River Road Community Organization (https://riverroadco.org/), Trainsong Neighborhood Association, and especially Beyond Toxics (https://www.beyondtoxics.org/). That plan has been canceled by the City Planning Department.

Now, however, we have a new threat to the safety and security of our Neighborhoods. The people at Union Pacific are planning on leasing the 26 miles of track to Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad. This is new company has a lot less accountability and liability than Union Pacific, and as a result, would put us in greater danger of disasterous accidents like we've seen in recent years. Please come to the meeting that is highlighted in this flyer.
