jeremyaasum

Hello all! Here’s the link to our ZOOM meeting TONIGHT at 7pm:

Topic: ABC Building an Inclusive and Welcoming Community PART ONE: “Self-education on race” Time: Aug 12, 2020 07:00 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada) Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/95279810568 Meeting ID: 952 7981 0568 OR dial by phone: 253-215-8782 Meeting ID: 952 7981 0568

As ABC is not an expert in this field, we have invited the following City of Eugene employees to facilitate our meetings. Thanks go to Kazim Zaidi, Fabio Andrade, and Rene Kane with the City of Eugene’s Office of Human Rights and Neighborhood Involvement.

  1. Kaz will give the INTRODUCTION – This will lay out the format for the meeting and let everyone know how we plan to proceed over the three meetings. (15 minutes)

  2. Fabio will give a PRESENTATION that shows the history of racism in America and especially Oregon. The focus will be on how institutional practices like redlining and racial covenants have helped to create a society where one does not have to be actively bigoted to be part of a system that creates and perpetuates racial disparities (30-40 minutes)

  3. PLEASE HOLD YOUR COMMENTS FOR THE QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION – For the remainder of the meeting, we will show a series of thought-provoking slides that encourage discussion.
